Terms of Service

1. About Locket

Locket ("we", "us", "our") is a digital time capsule service that lets you record or upload audio and video messages, seal them with a future unlock date, and have them delivered to recipients when that date arrives. By creating an account or using our service you agree to these terms.

2. Your Account

We use passwordless authentication via magic link. You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. You must be at least 18 years old to use Locket. You may not use the service for any unlawful purpose or to send content that is harmful, abusive, or violates the rights of others.

3. Capsules and Content

You retain ownership of all content you upload. By uploading content you grant us a limited license to store, process, and deliver it as part of the service. We do not access, review, or use your content for any purpose other than delivering it to your designated recipients on the unlock date.

Once a capsule is locked (after payment), its contents cannot be modified, and the unlock date cannot be changed. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and for designating the correct recipients.

4. Payments and Refunds

Locket charges a one-time fee per capsule based on the lock duration. Payments are processed by Stripe. All prices are in USD.

All sales are final. Once a capsule is locked and payment is confirmed, no refunds will be issued. Draft capsules (unpaid) can be deleted at any time at no charge. If you experience a technical issue that prevents your capsule from being delivered, please contact us and we will investigate and issue a refund at our discretion.

5. Delivery

We will make reasonable efforts to deliver unlock notifications to recipients on or shortly after the specified unlock date. Delivery depends on valid email addresses at the time of unlocking. We are not responsible for undelivered emails due to invalid addresses, spam filters, or circumstances outside our control.

Unlock delivery runs on a daily schedule (UTC). There may be up to a 24-hour delay between the unlock date and the delivery of notifications.

6. Data Retention

We retain your capsule content for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period after the unlock date to allow recipients to view the content. Draft capsules (unpaid) may be automatically deleted after 30 days of inactivity. You can delete your account and associated data by contacting us.

7. Acceptable Use

You may not use Locket to upload or send content that:

• Is illegal, threatening, or harassing
• Infringes the intellectual property rights of others
• Contains malware, spam, or deceptive material
• Depicts or exploits minors in any way
• Violates any applicable law or regulation

We reserve the right to remove content and terminate accounts that violate these terms without notice or refund.

8. Limitation of Liability

Locket is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including loss of data or failure to deliver a capsule.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
